03-07-17 Fishing Report
Bait the fish are feeding on: Shrimp, Crabs, Pinfish, some glass minnows and sardines. Some whitebait (threadfin Herring and scaled sardines) here and there.
Target species right now: Redfish, Sea Trout, Snook, Ladyfish, Jack Crevalle, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia and Bluefish.
Fishing tactics: We changed things up this week because of the low water conditions. Many of my redfish and snook spots are not holding bait or fish. Working potholes and deeper grass flats have been productive.
My fly fishing tip of the week: Your fly has to go deep to fish potholes and creek mouths effectively. Weighted flies will get you there if you lengthen your leader.
My spin fishing tip of the week: Jigheads and soft plastic baits allow you to fish at different depths without change lures.
7 day outlook: Incoming morning tides along with a wind shift will provide some excellent fishing opportunities this week.
