the striped bass have now are staged along structure waiting for bait to come
to them.
Type of bait fish are feeding on: Sand eels, juvenile sea herring, river herring, alewives, American eel, menhaden, adult sea herring.
Water temperature inshore: 69*
Water temperature offshore:57*
7 day outlook: It will be dry with light winds until Friday. Falling morning tides will provide consistent fishing.
Best techniques: We are settling into typical July fishing. Most of the striped bass have now are staged along structure waiting for bait to come to them. Sinking fly lines and weighted lures are needed to get to them.
My tips of the week: With warming water and morning falling tides, most of the action (other than in low light) will be in 15'-30' of water on the ledges and along the edges of flats.
Te diversity of the Kennebec is so much fun. Sight fishing on shallow water flats, Jigging along deep rips, Casting into the breakers on the beach can easily be doneduring the same trip.
I had the privilege of guiding Maine's Governor Janet Mills and her Commissioners of Marine Resources and Inland Fisheries and Wildlife recently. It was an honor to share the Kennebec Estuary and its striped bass fishing with them. We talked about the fishery and resources that support it. The Governor has a genuine interest about Maine's $23 million saltwater recreational fishery.
