Guides including myself love to post "grip n grin" pictures. Nothing's better for entries in the booking calendar than a pic of a smiling client holding a big fish. You've seen lots of them from me this summer - like this one from back in June. But here's three pictures that from my perspective are every bit impressive...

This year, the Kennebec River has been loaded with small striped bass that never grace the pages of Instagram or Facebook. Impressive to me why? The future of our fishery that's why. 30+ years ago all our striped bass were huge. We were on cloud nine caching 20-50 pound striped bass. But the fishery soon collapsed because there were no small fish in the population to grow and replace them.
Three to four years from now these little guys will be keeper size and they'll social media stars. They're our future.
